I was surfing cnn.com when I came across this news article:

It's about how in South Africa, there's a place where lions are bred in captivity. And then hunters pay large amounts of money to go hunting on the "safari" which is actually a fenced in place that's large enough to where you can't see the perimeters of the fence.
I was so... horrified [even when I knew it happened- I just never really saw the pictures that made it so real] that people would actually take pleasure in inflicting the pain of others. Zoosadism is whats it's called when people take pleasure in the pain of animals. There are pictures in the link to the article, that shows this guy called John Foster. He killed two lions.
I'm glad to say that canned hunting will end in February of 2008, but I think it's only in South Africa. I'm not sure. I really wish they had ended it sooner though.
What are your opinions?

You know, I have the RSS feeds for CNN's front page and a bunch of their different sections <.<; I havent read them in a few days, though, lol. Anyway.
This is similar to a story that my Environmental Science teacher told us about and showed us: In California, they actually have gun turrets set up. [Guns on tripods] These have cameras on them, with a huge zoom ability. They can also be remote controlled. Namely, a person can pay this company $15,000 or so, get a username/password for the site, login, and remote control these guns and hunt from the comfort of their own computer, all the while killing real animals.
Now, I understand that to a lot of people hunting is a sport. I also understand that to the majority of them whether they realize it not, theyre doing it for entertainment or to keep human dominance in the world. They have to hunt to keep us in control, is one of their reasons. Anyway, point is:
Its horrific that this happens. Theres no reason it should happen, its just...if they were in the wild? Maaaaaybe. Maybe. But in captivity like this? No. Never. Bad. ;~; Oh well...at least theyre realizing that its bad (or something) and stopping it unlike America. Woo~ Go America! [/sarcasm]
It is beyond appalling. A disgrace to human race. We are the only one who can choose between gunning them (animals) down or saving them out of near extinction in future. No prize given as to know what these hunters have in mind.
I've read the comments below, some have said that it's natural that things like this happens, claiming that we are predators after all or something like that. Bull shit.
poor lion...it looked so fuzzy friendly. do they breed them for the purpose of killing?? -yo sista
